A Good Man
As always, I'm sucked in by Vanderhaeghe's prose and characters. The former sparkles and the latter feel like real people with actual pasts and flaws and motivations. This was definitely the case here. After the initial hump where we're introduced to the people and places and events of the day, I found the story just flowed, leaving me eager to find out what happened next, and what little tidbit we'd learn about whom.
Only two flaws (from my point of view) - more history than I need (although I understand that that's a big part of Vanderhaeghe's style), and I thought the story turned a little cartoonish once Dunne's accomplices showed up.
