Darkly Dreaming Dexter (Dexter, #1)

Pretty underwhelming, really. I'm not sure what made people decide to pick this up for TV, but the lack of Michael C. Hall really showed in the book. I was unprepared for the amount of alliteration in the book (yes, even after having read the title). Other than that, the prose was unremarkable, and the characters were flat and kind of unbelievable. I suppose if one didn't know the mystery, there'd be a bit of "what happens next?", but for me it was just "how does TV differ from the book?".
