My Real Children

Book cover for My Real Children

Good, but not great. I enjoyed the words, and thought introducing the two storylines via Pat's dementia was very well done. I really liked reading about one of her lives, and a little less so the other. Had we stayed longer at a stretch with either story, this might've turned the book into a slog, but since the chapters alternated, I didn't find that it slowed me down much.
While I enjoyed seeing the glimpses of the two alternate histories, I didn't feel they had much of an impact on the story itself—they were mostly background. The big letdown, I thought, was the implication that Pat's choice shaped the paths of her worlds, but there was nothing to indicate how that might've been.
