Half a King (Shattered Sea, #1)
A very good YA book, with more depth to the characters than I'm used to in such a novel.
I was grabbed at the beginning, sympathetic toward Yarvi and intrigued by this Ministry that he was going to join. And once grabbed, I was not let go. The plot, while less complicated than might be found in an "adult" book, moved briskly, dragging me along. At most points I was anxious to find out what happened next.
I like that Yarvi's character seems to develop during the book, even if I don't necessarily like how it develops. (Although it's not like there weren't hints.)
If this is representative of Abercrombie's works, I need to get more—I've been missing out.
