A very exciting book. The story pulled me along faster than any book I've recently read. I thought the "special people brought to the super special secret school" part of the story was done better than usual.
I really enjoyed our introduction to Emily. The felt like a real person to me, unlike (for example) whatsisname from [b:The Magicians|6101718|The Magicians (The Magicians, #1)|Lev Grossman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1313772941s/6101718.jpg|6278977]. The other cast members were interesting as well, and there were a number of very funny moments during the action sequences.
The way the puzzle pieced fit together as the story progressed kept me on the hook during the whole book. Sadly, I felt that the very end dropped a little in organization and plotting and overall tone. I'm not as disappointed as some others in the reviews, as I think the characters' actions were largely justified within the context of the book, but it still felt like a little bit of a letdown, (barely) dragging the book back down to 4 star status. But really, go read it.
