The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)
Oh, I should've reviewed this closer to when I finished it. The memory, it is not so good.
Quite a fun, and often exciting, introduction to a new part of the Cosmere. I generally enjoyed our three main characters and their trials, but for some reason I kept wanting to see more of Dalinar, which was a bit of a surprise to me. I really enjoyed his struggle against the enemy and his frenemy.
(Oh, the Bad News Bears portion of the book was also fun to read. A little predictable, but fun.)
The bits of the magic system we've seen so far are intriguing, with plenty of room to expand.
This would've been a 5-star book, but I found that the end was a little rushed, with more exciting revelations packed in than I cared for. They were fun. And exciting. And made me want to keep reading to learn more (I'm actually quite excited to get to [b:Words of Radiance|17332218|Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2)|Brandon Sanderson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1659905768l/17332218.SY75.jpg|16482835]—so much for pacing myself.). But still it seemed a little too much. I think it's a good choice for the first tenth of a big story, but makes for a slightly weaker book.
