The Magician King (The Magicians #2)
An improvement over the first in the series, mostly because Quentin was less whiny. And stuff happened other than drinking. Oh, and maybe a little less "look how smart I am and how I play with tropes". Maybe.
The "ship voyage" was handled better than in nearly any other book I've read, to tell the truth.
The Julia backstory was the high point. I couldn't wait to get back to her chapters.
