Much more charming than I thought. I liked the world, and in many ways the flavour of the fantasy in it, especially the threat and character of The Wood. Some characters' traits grated on me at first, but generally even those were explained away. The two quibbles I had were the magic was a little too unstructured, bordering on easy wish-fulfillment, and the graphic sex scene seemed out of place, and creepy if you really stop to consider the ages of the participants. Without them, we'd've had a 5-star book.

A fairy tale for adults. Recommended.
