Emancipation Day
An interesting book, examining race relations in the small in 1940s Windsor Ontario (and a little bit Newfoundland and Detroit). By "in the small", I mean it mostly dealt with how one family felt about race, with very little treatment of larger issues and feelings.
There was a little bit of an unreliable narrator thing going on, which was used to good effect. For all that some of them were presented to be sympathetic, I didn't find that I completely empathized with any of the characters. Still, well-written, and an enjoyable read. I'd consider more Grady in the future.
