The Only Café

Book cover for The Only Café

One of those books that, while I'm reading it, I want to keep reading. But when I'm away from it I have no particular desire to pick it up again.
It looked like it had potential. A dead man with a mysterious past. A dysfunctional family. A wacky cast of coworkers. A romantic relationship in crisis. And…
I think it all was squandered. As the story went on, the mysteries became less mysterious and so too was our curiosity lessened. And many of the elements I mentioned above were wasted.
A non-unpleasant read, but nothing particularly compelling here. I fear I'll never see the Linden MacIntyre of The Bishop's Man again.
