The Windup Girl
Full of amazing ideas. There's worldbuilding here to sustain a dozen novels, and I'd like to see more. Downsides:
- not enough megadonts
- the reader is really thrown into the deep end, hit with unfamiliar technology, world history, and political machinations. It's tough going at the beginning
- a lot of POV characters for such a short book, and not all of them are interesting (or likable)
All that aside, more than worth it for the ideas.
