Uneven, but I counted on this going in. A bunch of stories held no interest for me, which is to be expected when you just say "Star Wars: go!". Still, I did enjoy the idea of generally following along with A New Hope instead of just giving us stories from any time period willy-nilly.

FWIW, here are the stories I remember being worth reading. Bolded ones especially so.

  • The Sith of Datawork, by Ken Liu

  • The Red One, by Rae Carson

  • Master and Apprentice, by Claudia Gray

  • Beru Whitesun Lars, by Meg Cabot

  • Born in the Storm, by Daniel José Older

  • An Incident Report, by Mallory Ortberg

  • Change of Heart, by Elizabeth Wein

  • Far Too Remote, by Jeffrey Brown

  • The Trigger, by Kieron Gillen

  • Bum, by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker

  • The Baptist, by Nnedi Okorafor

  • Time of Death
  • , by Cavan Scott
  • There is Another
  • , by Gary D. Schmidt
  • Desert Son, by Pierce Brown

  • Grounded, by Greg Rucka

  • Contingency Plan, by Alexander Freed
